Our Lady Star of the Sea
Feast Day: September 27
Patroness to the Netherlands, Catholic missions to seafarers
Our Lady Star of the Sea, also known as Our Lady Stella Maris, is derived mistranslating Mary’s Hebrew name Miryam, which means drop in the sea. Some believe this transition from drop in the sea to star of the sea speaks to God’s power to exalt the humble. She is called on to calm the storms of the water, but also the storms in our lives.
